Unfortunately after a couple days of problems with my SSBB game
giving me the "cannot read disc" screen on my Wii...
At first I just ejected and re-inserted the game. After a few tries it would
run just fine. Although recently 100+ times of this ritual would rarely
solve the problem. So I Googled it and got this, from "eFluxMedia."
Stayed up late to get your hands on the hottest game this month, Super Smash Brothers: Brawl, and got the ‘friendly’ message: “Unable to read disc?” Well, Nintendo can fix that for you, as they announced on their website.
“Super Smash Bros. Brawl utilizes a double-layer disc which has a large memory capacity. A very small percentage of Wii consoles may have trouble reading data off this large capacity disc if there is some contamination on the lens of the disc drive. Nintendo has specialized clearing equipment that can resolve this problem.”
For all customers that have been confronted with this situation, Nintendo advises them to attempt neither cleaning the console, nor trying to return the disc hoping it will fix the problem. Moreover, the company said the cleaning process shouldn’t normally alter the stored data in any way, but if that should be the case, customers will be able to re-download the Virtual Console games from the Wii Shop Channel for free.
The offer only covers the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii or U.S. territories such as Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands), which makes us wonder: how about customers from other countries? Hopefully, they won’t be experiencing such problems.
I sure hope that I don't loose all my SSBB date. At tthe point of posting
this, I have all but one square in the "Challenges" section "blue."
Not to mention only a handfull left that are "red."
Here's hoping, I guess. I'll have to give Nintendo a call.
And I know I won't be paying for this mistake.
After all these years of service and never having any problems
with a Nintendo system, I hope they'll "man-up" and pay for it.
Other-wise. I'll be sorely dissapointed.
I'll keep this thread up-to-date as I get info. Brawl one for me guys.
