...but i just ordered the daxter psp slim combo. comes with the game daxter, a gig memory stick, some family guy movie, and well, the system. the last couple weeks i was thinking of getting an mp3 player, and maybe a portable system, so i figured, hell, i'll get both at once. big thing that turned me was that recently the psp slim firmware was hacked, so all the homebrew software works on it, but the slim has double the ram, so there may be some new slim specific emulators and such. also i found out how to rip my ps1 games and play them on the psp, so right there i will already have a library of games for the thing. Symphony of the Night wherever i go.... *drool* now i just need to get into the psp homebrew scene so i know what emus to use...

Breathern's probably the guy to find that stuff- he got our PS2's workin' with the HDD and HD Advance. I don't think anyone will make fun of you for buying the PSP Slim, least of all me. You can play some old and new Monster Hunter goodness... *drools as well*

I had no idea of a monster hunter for the psp so i checked it out, and damn! i'm definitely getting monster hunter freedom 2! it sounded so damn cool! having to change your armor depending on where you were, like wearing warm close where its cold or your stamina goes down! did the ps2 version have elements like that? i just wish it would have more than just ad-hoc network play, but, well, can't have it all i guess...

I don't think it had cold temp variants, but it was the first game in the series. God, it seemed like you lost stamina so quickly anyway- of course, when you're trying to avoid getting stomped on, time flies...
I'm really excited about MH3 for the Wii and definitely looking forward to reading your impressions of Freedom 2. The original was one hell of an original idea and I can't wait to see what Capcom's done with the franchise.

The psp is a great little system... Theres Loco Roco, Katamari, Mega Man powered up... Lots of cool shit...
I did stuff to my friends psp so he could play ps1 games and homebrew programs. Its pretty easy.. Just make sure you dont upgrade your firmware if a new game you buy asks you to... Just go online and find a hacked version. Once you have the hacked firmware its as easy as dragging and dropping files to the psp.. For ps1 games you have to patch the iso using a program, but its easy and its not very hard to find tutorials.

I'm wondering- how's Monster Hunter 2 coming for ya? Don't think you can't get in-depth about it because I'll probably understand every word...

i've been playing it a bit every day, just trying to gather items and complete some of the easy quests. 2 things that i hope they fix for future versions are the camera and add some sorta lock on function... i dont know how many times i've died because i couldn't see a monster or i start swinging and hit nothing. my primary wep of choice is a longsword, nice balance of speed and power. i'm thinking about starting to use the gunlances. everyone claims they're the best weps. i'm trying to find a nice armor set as well. one thing i like is it seems there is no single great armor. so i'm going to try and pick and choose some parts to make a nice balanced set. i'm gonna mess with that today. so yeah. things are going good. i'm only on the 3 star quests right now, theres just a ton of quests in the game, then you can download a crapload more. hopefully i can get it beat before the next game comes out!
also in other psp news, i just saw on kotaku that sega is porting phantasy star universe to the psp. if it includes the expansions original pso items it might be a buy for me. i've also been looking at either capcom classics remixed or metal slug anthology. now if they only come out with a collection that has dungeons and dragons shadows over mysteria...

I'll tell ya what- I really started to like the hammers nearing the end of our playtime with the original MH. At first, I was all about the sword/shield weapons. Poison Battleaxe and Deathprize were my faves(one poisons and the other stuns). Then I had a Rusted Lance that I upgraded to an Undertaker, but then I found out about swingin' for the fences with hammers. I had a rusted hammer that I upgraded fully to the elementless, all-mighty, 1040 attack powered Breath Core Hammer. I loved charging that bitch up halfway for a huge downward slam or fully for the multi-hit spin. Awwww, those were the days...

The Metal Slug Anthology is a great collection. My friend got it for wii and psp.. The only thing iffy was the load times on the psp. There were a ton of loads that seemed out of place and annoying. But I read that the psp slim loads games faster, so it might not be a problem. Definitely some great gaming in that collection.

well, after a bit of time i now have a pandora battery and a magic memory stick, and was able today to flash my firmware to the latest m33-4 custom firmwarez. so now i can use all the spiffy homebrew apps and rip my ps1 games and play em on my psp. i did a test with nesterj, an nes emulator, and castlevania: sotn. took a bit of time, not much effort, but they work like a charm! the emulator has a ton of cool options, even being able to take screenshots! theres also some extra menu in the custom firmware that will let your psp run in 333mhz mode for all games, sucking the battery life but reducing slowdown in some games. and you can even take screenshots from any game with it and rip your umds to your memory stick... i just need to find out how to access the menu. now i'm gonna need to get a giant memory stick for all this stuff!
